GINA - German Indian Nursing Association

In collaboration with RE-ALIS, the GINA programme ensures fair and ethical migration pathways for Indian nurses. German hospitals visit our NOVA office to conduct interviews. Under this programme, hospitals finance the following:

  • A1 to B2 language training at Western European Language Institute (WELI)
  • Accommodation during training
  • OSD exam fees
  • Document translation & recognition (Anerkennung)
  • Flight and visa costs

Western European Language Institute (WELI), founded in 2014, is a language institute and licensed ÖSD examination centre. With over a decade of experience in teaching students from across India, WELI plays a central role in preparing candidates for migration.

Nursing Training Applicants

A three-year paid vocational training programme that combines classroom education and hospital-based practical training. It leads to full qualification as a registered nurse in Germany which is recognised throughout the EU.

You must have completed your 12th grade with a science background, have done an internship in a healthcare institution (optional), and achieved at least B1/B2 level in German.

Yes. Nursing training students receive a monthly stipend that increases each year. It's enough to cover basic living expenses in Germany.

Yes. A minimum of B1-level German is required to begin the Ausbildung programme.

Yes. Once you complete the training and pass the final exam, you’re eligible to work as a qualified nurse in Germany with a full-time contract.

Nurses (Qualified nurses seeking direct employment)

You must have at least B1, but most employers require B2-level German from the start. In order to become licensed as a full nurse, you need to have passed the B2 German exam.

Yes. Once your qualification is fully recognized and you have B2-level language skills, your salary will be equivalent to local colleagues.

Apart from your transcript, you need your degree, registration, experience and German language certificates. Our team assists with document recognition (Anerkennung).

Our partner hospitals provide accommodation for 6-12 months and offer onboarding, integration programmes, mentorship and, in most cases, continued language development.

Yes. After settling in and meeting certain income and accommodation requirements, family reunification is possible.

Doctors (Medical & Dentists)

Yes. However, in contrast to nurses and trainees cannot work and earn from the start. They need at least 1 year inside the country to attain the required C1 medical German level and to pass the corresponding exam.

Yes. There are two exams. After the medical language exam (Fachsprachprüfung) doctors and dentists can obtain a temporary work permit. Latest after three years, they have to pass the medical skill test (Kenntnisprüfung) in order to obtain their permanent medical license (Approbation).

No, doctors can register for a C1 medical German course and apply for a language study visa. However, they need to start the recognition process while they are still in India.

You will either get a language study or 16d visa for recognition purposes. Both types of visa can be converted into a employment visas once you have found a job in Germany.

Yes. NOVA provides support with document translation, recognition (Approbation), visa guidance, and pre-departure orientation.
